Salone de Mobile President Claudio Luti Resigns Amid Boardroom Restructuring

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014

It is being reported by Italian media outlets that Kartell CEO Claudio Luti has resigned from his role as president of eminent Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano furniture fair as well as its presiding organization, Cosmit (Comitato Organizzatore del Salone del Mobile Italiano). The decision comes on the heels of a move by Federlegno Arredo, the committee of Italian furniture producers that oversees Cosmit, to acquire Cosmit completely through merger of incorporation, thus birthing the new company, Federlegno Arredo Eventi Spa, who will thenceforth manage Salone del Mobile.

Luti, who has assumed leadership of the two companies for shy of two years, will be replaced by Federlegno Arredo president Roberto Snaidero in a board renewal appeal approved by Federlegno Arredo Eventi Spa, the term of which lasting three years. Snaidero's duties will entail overseeing the fair's exhibitions and events, public relations and press, media relations with public and private entities, as well as affiliate festival and event operations, effectually vitiating the need for Luti's role.

Luti earned his reputation first as managing director for fashion giant Gianni Versace, later transforming ultramodern furniture powerhouse Kartell into a global success. Rebranding the festival's image, lowering prices for visiting fairgoers, and simplifying the layout of the fair were among the initiatives Luti tackled during the term of his leadership.
