Everybody needs a nutcracker on their holiday table. The dccorative dolls have been sprucing up holiday decor since the 15th century, when German woodcarvers began creating nutcrackers to honor soldiers, politicians, and local dignitaries.

Six centuries later, they're a festive addition to any spread, and they're certainly great conversation starters even for guests who don't like nuts.
