40 Vintage Presidential Campaign Buttons

Don't worry, it's almost over.

To celebrate the first day of the end of campaign season, we're taking a look back at some of the official campaign button designs that have graced the lapels of both the winners and losers. There haven't been many great leaps forward in campaign aesthetics over the decades. Most have been sticking with the old fail-safe: Red, white, and blue. Candidate's name and/or face. Maybe a bald eagle. There've been a few who dared to break that mold, though (we're digging Jimmy Carter's grinning peanut and President Obama's birth certificate button, and Nixon's risqué slogans!), and we're hoping the 2016 candidates will keep moving design 'forward.'
