Elke Walter Pop-up Shop at Pavilion Antiques
Tuesday, September 24th, 2013
For the fashion obsessed who are mourning the end of NYFW and the 24/7 runway updates that littered the blogosphere last week, fear not—French designer Elke Walter is in town to satiate your sartorial appetite.
For this week only, she's posted up at Bucktown gallery Pavilion for a Pop-up shop showcasing her experimental clothing designs—think structural LBDs and otherworldly metallic confections. Walter's designs are not for the woman looking to blend in. “The real luxury lies in the fact that you can obtain something that is not made for the public, but just for you,” she says.
Walter has a hand in every aspect of her dramatic designs, creating her one-of-a-kind pieces using a specially developed pattern cutting technology, artful pleating and draping, and high tech fibers and fabrics. “I prefer being independent. For me, this is the only way to keep my creativity. I have a strong notion not to do what everyone expects me to do.”
