Known for painstaking craftsmanship and complex-yet-spirited designs, the latest collection of rugs from Zoë Luyendijk Studio was unveiled at a cocktail reception on May 8th. The event, which took place at the Atelier Lapchi Showroom in Chicago, honored the fresh relationship between the two companies, which was forged when they met in New York last fall.
The rugs are hand-knotted and woven using a traditional Tibetan process, and the end result garnered fervent reviews from guests.
"One of my favorite experiences in showing Zoë's pieces so far is watching people react to what they're looking at,” says Atelier Lapchi Showroom director Nathan Tucker. “The opening event was great for that sort of thing—seeing, from across the room, someone marveling at the color and construction of her work. Invariably, there are questions on how the rugs are accomplished, and it's a shock to everyone that there is nothing random or unplanned in the creations.”
