Though primarily an architect by his own insistence, Arne Jacobsen is most discernibly recognized for the prized Modernist concepts he contributed to the realm of furniture design. Lending his talents to the historic Radisson SAS hotel in Jacobsen's native Copenhagen, he conceived the Egg chair in the architect's landmark year of 1958. The chair's distinct structural features and idiosyncratic Nordic aesthetic has rendered the Egg a treasured artifact.
Inspired to spread the luxury of this object d'art, familiar Arne Jacobsen bedfellows The Republic of Fritz Hansen have launched a limited edition run of the Egg. By way of Kvadrat's high-quality Canvas series fabric, Fritz Hansen's The Choice Egg chair honors the stylized treatment of color Jacobsen devised for his work on Radisson SAS by featuring the world-renown hotel's classic indigo blue tones. With a strict constitution of top-of-the-line materials and the delicacy of meticulous craftsmanship, the production run is limited to 999 chairs.
The Republic of Fritz Hansen's The Choice Egg is presently available to dealers and will be extended to the public beginning December 1, 2014.
