Harmony Korine for Supreme

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Skate-centric fashion brand Supreme has lined up some fairly impressive collaborations in the past few years, with artists like Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, George Condo, and Damien Hirst. Joining their ranks is controversial film director Harmony Korine, whose 1995 debut, Kids, is a brutal look at the sordid lives of NYC teenagers in which skateboarding figures prominently.

Who better to design a skate deck, then? Like the grainy VCR footage of his latest film, Trash Humpers, Korine's graphics for Supreme are blurred, almost abstract portraits. Though these collaborative decks are more likely to end up on a collector's shelf than on the street, Korine would undoubtedly want them to bear the scuffs and scrapes of regular use.

The decks will be available online and in Supreme's NY, LA, and London stores on October 6.
