Maryland Mondrian

Friday, May 25th, 2012

When one thinks of the Washington, DC suburbs, modern architecture doesn't immediately come to mind–save perhaps the Marcel Breuer government buildings downtown. But there's much more there, in fact. One new addition is the Wissioming2 house in Glen Echo, Maryland by Robert M. Gurney, which integrates modern architecture into one of the area's more picturesque locales. The views of the woods and Potomac River are available through a Mondrian-inspired window arrangement from the two volume home. Outdoors, there's a pool with “infinity” edges and terrace around it, a good spot for communing with nature when the Capitol Hill business is done.
