Named for the late architect James Stirling [1926-1992], widely known as "Big Jim" due to his apparent love for the good life, the coveted RIBA Stirling award is like an Oscar for new architecture in the UK. This week saw the 2012 shortlist of the awards announced to the press. Winners will be revealed, and awarded the £20,000 prize from the RIBA at the official dinner and ceremony in Manchester in October. We trust our invites are on the way.
