Shizuoka Sound Machine

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Maybe I just have Christian Marclay on the brain this week—LACMA is showing his The Clock this weekend—or maybe I just dig turntable inspired art. Founded by a techno musician, Japan's Kyouei Design keeps one toe in the modern music movement with the Pendulum Sound Machine, a brass sculpture that turns a standard Technics DJ turntable into a sound art piece which makes noise via 16 pendulums. One thought: You might not want to put your rare wax on it—it actually needs the Endless Rain LP to work properly. It just occurred to me, that if you haven't slung your old records in a while, maybe you can trade 'em in and pick up one of these?
