New innovations from Apple are great unless you've spent almost a year starting up an iPhone case business based off a soon obsolete model. That's what happened to Joe Mansfield and Ken Tomita, founders of Portland-based case company, Grove. The poor souls released their first iPhone 3GS case on the same day that the iPhone 4 prototyped leaked out.
Since then, Grove has matched Steve Jobs' pace while keeping it local and sustainable. In collaboration with MapleXO, Grove crafts their SkateBack iPhone cases from 100% post-industrial deck material. This week until June 10, the startup is giving away three of these Skatebacks. But move fast--you just never know about that iPhone 5...
