What Do Creatives Really Do All Day?

What do the behind-the-scenes movers and shakers of the design world eat for breakfast? How late do they work? And what kind of magic tea do they drink to stay on task? These questions and more will be answered on the newly-launched blog So, How Was Your Day? from multi-talented Chicagoan and stationery designer Jessica Murnane. She fills us in on the inspiration behind the site and…you guessed it…what she had for breakfast.
DB: Where did you get the idea for SHWYD?
JM: I wanted to design a site where the most interesting, inspiring, and passionate people I have encountered could come together in one space to share their stories. And really, to cure the curiosity surrounding some of them. I guarantee that we have all met met someone and wondered, "Damn, I wonder what they really do all day?"
DB: Who do you expect to read it?
JM: People looking for new inspiration. I truly believe that there will be a "muse" for everyone on the site. There was a point in time when I was a little (a lot) confused about where I was heading with my career. So I set up meetings with people that had the kinds of jobs I thought I wanted. After hearing them tell me about what they did on daily basis, I was able to make a more educated decision on my "dream job" pursuit. I want to do the same thing for others.
DB: Who do you have in mind to feature on the blog?
JM: Really anyone that is passionate about what they do. There will be some recognizable faces, but a lot of unknowns too. My number one goal is to feature people that haven't been seen on every other site already. A lot of of these maniac over-achievers don't even have websites, but are the best in their field.
DB: Are there any dangers to reading SHWYD that you foresee? Such as breakfast envy?
JM: The only danger is to want to do more with your day. You'll see people packing in so much that you might reconsider how you spend your own time. I already feel behind now by answering these questions. Kidding.
And what did you have for breakfast?
Karyn's Green Meal Shake. I'm addicted to how they instantly wake me up. But dream breakfast...biscuits & gravy.
