This minimalist getaway for creatives by Wendy Evans Joseph Architecture may be small at 525 sf, but makes up for it details. A fireplace (essential for winter), black matte-stained cedar plus copper trim outside, and walnut sink, pantry counter and floors inside makes for a handsome escape. Whether much writing actually happens or not, the views from the deep woods should be inspiring. And as for disturbing the environment, even Thoreau would probably approve of its passive heating and cooling systems.
