Zaha Hadid’s Liquid Glacial Table

Sometimes we just like to put on an old Pink Floyd LP and stare in wonder at Zaha Hadid's Liquid Glacial table. So too, it seems, do the folks at the London Design Museum, who nominated the piece for a Design of the Year award. The superstar architect, for whom the word "prolific" is a gross understatement, is no stranger to furniture design, but this series of tables made for David Gill Galleries takes it to a whole other level. Made of clear and colored acrylic (and we suspect a little bit of Macbeth-style sorcery), the Liquid Glacial tables resemble ice formations, with a flat table top transformed by subtle waves and ripples below the surface. Check it out on display at the Gallery this October during Frieze London (and bring your iPod with trippy tunes for the full experience).
