Apps Sofa

People say there's an app for everything. Well, now there is a sofa in the shape of an app. But rather than being gimmicky, the Apps Sofa is actually quite well designed.

Designer Richard Hutten based in the Netherlands has created a sofa meant to resemble smartphone applications. In the shape of a cube with beveled edges, the sofa comes in one and two person versions, aptly dubbed 1.0 and 2.0. They also come in single tone and dichromatic schemes. The seats are visually stunning, but they are comfortable as well. The wooden frame is cushioned with webbing and thick foam soft enough to make you ignore your phone, for a few minutes anyway.

The furniture pieces look contemporary and colorful. Apps Sofa marks the first design by Hutten for Dutch manufacturer Artifort. It will be presented at Interieur 2012 at Kortrijk in Belgium. Although the sofas are sure to attract a lot of interest from buyers, unfortunately they have yet to hit the market.
