Brazilian Modern Meets LA

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

As a fan of Brazilian modernism, I'm frankly a bit jealous that Los Angelenos can now get up close and personal with "the father of Brazilian furniture" Sergio Rodrigues. Known for his collabs with Oscar Niemeyer and furnishings at the Brazilian Embassy in Rome, Brasília University and the Teatro Nacional in Brasília, Rodrigues has a slew of iconic pieces in his portfolio. If you know the Mole armchair, the Diz chair or his Kilin, you know what I'm talking about. Today, at Espasso's gallery in West Hollywood (8687 Melrose Avenue), a Sergio Rodrigues shop-in-shop opens featuring a full range of furniture by the famed Brazilian designer, including an extensive selection of re-editions. It isn't the first time he's sold his wares in Cali, he once had an outpost of his own interior design shop OCA store there. Prices are available upon request.
